AOIFE O’DONOVAN

with members of The Knights

JUL 28 | 8 PM

Grammy Award-winning songwriter and musician Aoife O’Donovan is one of the most sought-after singer/songwriters of her generation. Deemed “a vocalist of unerring instinct” by The New York Times, the Irish-American folk artist has released three critically-acclaimed solo albums including In the Magic Hour (2016), which MOJO described as a “exhilarating and exploratory replete with the singer’s honeyed vocals and a gauzy, frictionless atmosphere.”

Proven to be a savvy and generous collaborator, O’Donovan is one third of the folk trio I’m With Her with bandmates Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz. The trio’s debut album See You Around (2018) was hailed as “willfully open-hearted” by NPR Music, while The Guardian called it “ethereal and purposeful.” They received a Grammy Award in 2020 for their original song “Call My Name.”

O’Donovan spent the preceding decade as co-founder and frontwoman of the string band Crooked Still, and is the featured vocalist on The Goat Rodeo Sessions (2011)—the collaborative album with Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile. She has performed as a featured vocalist with over a dozen symphonies including the National Symphony Orchestra, collaborated with jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas, and spent a decade as a regular contributor to the radio variety shows Live From Here and A Prairie Home Companion.
