A MESSAGE FROM WOLF TRAP FOUNDATION’S
Welcome to Wolf Trap’s 50th Anniversary Season!
When Catherine Filene Shouse first founded Wolf Trap, she intended for the architecturally striking Filene Center and idyllic National Park to remain a beloved community destination for years to come. Since the very first performance in 1971, all types of audiences and artists have joined together at Wolf Trap to make lifelong memories and share great arts experiences.
As the world reopens again after a long pause, this summer at Wolf Trap is all about renewing connections and creating meaningful moments—a time for collective healing and coming together in celebration. Wolf Trap is a treasure unlike any other, and I have no doubt that Mrs. Shouse would be pleased to know it has stood the test of time and is the perfect place for our community to rejoice in gathering together again. Following 18 months of a dark and silenced Filene Center stage, the triumphant return is even more special with Wolf Trap’s 50th Anniversary Season. It is my great pleasure to welcome you back for this summer’s wonderful performances.
Among the many genres of artists that the Filene Center will host this summer, as a longtime fan of opera, I am particularly excited that Wolf Trap Opera opens our 50th Anniversary Season. As opera has been an integral part of Wolf Trap since the very beginning, it is fitting that all of Wolf Trap Opera’s concert productions are showcased at the Filene Center this year, along with the rest of the extraordinary 50th Anniversary performances.
On behalf of Wolf Trap Foundation’s Board of Directors, I am deeply grateful to the many individuals, foundations, and corporations that support Wolf Trap’s mission and programs in countless ways. Thank you also to the National Park Service, the Foundation staff, and Board members who all work in partnership to ensure Wolf Trap remains a gathering place for future generations. Wolf Trap would not exist today without the support of this great community.
Thank you and enjoy the show!
DANIEL A. D’ANIELLO
